The 17-minute video was posted on Hanover Park's website this week.

Among his stops was meeting with Community and Economic Development Director Shubhra Govind at the developing site of the new village center downtown, which is intended to be a gathering spot and a venue for community events.

Govind addressed the new construction in the village, including a mixed-use development at the northwest corner of Lake Street and Gary Avenue, as well as 20 new townhouses being built at Wise Road and Farmstead Lane.
'Despite all the difficulties we've all faced during COVID, Hanover Park actually got 20 new businesses in the community, so we're really excited to welcome them,' Govind said.
Fire Chief Craig Haigh showed off the future site of the village's southern fire station next to the Sonya Crawshaw Branch of the Poplar Creek Public Library on Audrey Lane. When completed, it will replace the outdated station at Army Trail and County Farm roads.
Police Chief Mike Menough said his department recently received an extension of its accreditation -- a measure of its professionalism and expertise held by less than 4% of departments nationwide and less than 5% in Illinois.
'2020 was also a year marked by civil unrest around the country, and a time of questioning of law enforcement by the communities they serve,' Menough said. 'We are pleased to say that we stood ready to answer those questions and engage in dialogue with our community whenever we were asked.'
Public Works Director T.J. Moore reported that the village did away with the last of its hard-to-maintain concrete streets last year and used its new asphalt patching machine to patch the equivalent of 12,000 square yards of potholes.
Coming this year will be new water meters able to measure usage in real time and more quickly detect expensive leaks, he said.
Finance Director Remy Navarette said anyone having trouble paying water bills in the current economic climate should contact her department for assistance in setting up a financing plan. And she proudly reported that Hanover Park is now in its fifth year without an increase to the property tax levy and its sixth year without an increase to the sewer and water rates.
Human Resources Director Barry Kurcz presented Craig with the U.S. Department of Labor's 2020 Hire Vets Gold Award, received by only one other municipality and only eight other employers in Illinois. The criteria include having veterans make up at least 7% of employees. For the village of Hanover Park, it's nearly 11%.
